Toyota to unveil new hybrid, compact models in China

Toyota Motor Corp., Asia’s biggest automaker, will start selling a new compact model in China next year to boost its presence in the world’s biggest car market.
Toyota will also introduce a car with a hybrid system primarily developed at its research and development facilities in Changshu, China, President Akio Toyoda said Monday at Auto China 2012 in Beijing, where the company is displaying 38 models. He didn’t say when the company would start selling the hybrid car.

Worker at No. 1 nuke plant died from overwork

The death last May of a man who had worked at the Fukushima No. 1 plant after the nuclear crisis erupted in March has been officially attributed to overwork, according to a lawyer representing the man’s family.
A labor standards inspection office in Yokohama determined Friday that Nobukatsu Osumi’s fatal heart attack at age 60 was caused by the excessive physical and mental burdens of having to work all night in protective gear, including a mask, lawyer Akio Ohashi said.
