Akamai (AKAM) is looking to acquire security and networking firms, says a company exec. The content delivery network owner wants to generate $100M/year in revenue from new businesses within 3 years, he says (for reference, Akamai is expected to post 2012 sales of $1.36B), and is willing to buy a startup if it helps improves the company’s time-to-market. Zscaler, a provider of cloud-based security services for Web traffic, is named as the kind of company Akamai could be interested in.

Steven Guggenheimer, the Microsoft (MSFT) exec in charge of handling relationships with hardware clients, has been reassigned to an unspecified management position. Microsoft claims the move is the result of long-term planning, but it might not be a coincidence it comes shortly after the introduction of Microsoft Surface, which has upset many Windows OEMs. Guggenheimer will be replaced by marketing exec Nick Parker.

Amazon (AMZN) plans to introduce a digital bookstore in Brazil and sell its Kindle e-reader in the country in the autumn, Reuters reported on Friday. A digital launch would be a prelude to a full retail operation, although that would face massive problems due to Brazil’s poor infrastructure and high taxes. “Come to hell with us, Amazon,” says one Brazilian bookstore exec. JPMorgan (JPM) injects 2.5B yuan ($394M) into its China unit in expectation of rapid growth over the coming years. Says a JPM exec: the “additional capital will better position the bank in [China's] evolving regulatory environment” and will be used, among other things, to expand the bank’s branch network.
