Tokyo Gas looks to buy two aging Tepco thermal power plants

Tokyo Gas Co. indicated Friday it intends to buy two aging thermal power plants from Tokyo Electric Power Co., which is struggling with a huge financial burden stemming from the triple-meltdown crisis at its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear complex.
“As occasion demands, we are willing to buy” the Sodegaura thermal plant in Sodegaura, Chiba Prefecture, and the Minami-Yokohama plant in Yokohama, senior Tokyo Gas executive officer Takashi Uchida said at a press conference.

On April 22 last year, Akemi Karino did exactly what she had done on the same day each year for more than a decade. She made a cake, sandwiches and some other of her daughter Ai’s favorite things for her birthday.
On this occasion she decorated the cake with 12 candles, but there was a conspicuous absentee from Ai’s 12th birthday.
